AWS vs GCP for Small Business Workloads

For a small business, the AWS vs GCP decision should not be treated like a religious debate. Both clouds can run your workload well. The better question is which platform fits your team, budget, hiring reality, and operating needs.

Choose AWS when ecosystem matters most

AWS has the broadest service catalog, the largest hiring pool, and the most third-party support. If your workload is a general web app, API, internal tool, SaaS product, or e-commerce backend, AWS is often the safer default.

Choose GCP when simplicity, data, or Kubernetes matters most

GCP is often attractive for teams using BigQuery, machine learning workflows, or Kubernetes through GKE. Many teams also find GCP projects and networking easier to understand at smaller scale.

Do not choose based on credits alone

Startup credits are useful, but credits expire. The operating model remains. Choose the cloud you can maintain after the promotion ends.

AWS or GCP can both become expensive and confusing if the foundation is weak. Account structure, IAM, billing alerts, monitoring, backup, and deployment process matter more than the logo in the console.
